Working with Curtis Bradford in our Katy Design Center, James and Sarah fell in love with the Magnolia plan. With Curtis' help, they implemented all of their personal touches to the plan perfectly. From a dedicated man cave to a luxurious walk-in shower, this home in Fort Bend County has plenty of custom features to enjoy. We're grateful to Sarah and James for allowing us to show you all their beautiful new home. 

Designing a Custom Exterior

The Magnolia B elevation is a popular choice for many homeowners, as it features a classic stucco and stone exterior. However, the Barnett family decided to put their own spin on the design by replacing the stucco with brick. They kept the stone archway entrance to create a striking focal point and replaced the stone on the study window and guest bedroom window with brick to tie the front section of the house together. Inside the entryway, they used board and batt siding to give the space a farmhouse feel. The Barnetts love their new front door and receive compliments on it often.

An Open Concept Living Room with Extra Storage

The living room is a warm and inviting space perfect for entertaining. The large windows provide tons of natural light, and the luxurious vinyl plank flooring helps tie the room together. The built-in bookshelves are a great way to add both storage and style, and the overall color scheme is warm and inviting. This is an excellent space for hosting family and friends, and the Barnetts have done a fantastic job of making it their own.

Redesigning the Kitchen to Meet Their Needs

The kitchen is one of the most important rooms in the house, and it's clear that this family takes great pride in theirs. They love the beautiful view from the back windows and have customized the island to make the most of the space. The deep farmhouse sink and double ovens are perfect for entertaining. The deco tile in the niche behind the gas stove adds a touch of color and personality. The kitchen flows nicely into the dining space, making it easy to serve meals and entertain guests. Overall, it's clear that this family loves their new kitchen and put a lot of thought into making it a welcoming and stylish space.

From Flex Room to Man Cave

The Perfect Owners' Retreat

The Barnetts absolutely love their master suite. They appreciate that it's on its own side of the house and is entirely private. Being able to shut the door and block out everything else is wonderful. The hallway leading to their bedroom has large his and hers separate closets perfect for all of their clothes. The only change they made to the bedroom was removing one of the windows to create a solid wall. They enjoy the large windows at the back of the room since they provide a beautiful view of their land. Going into the master bathroom, they chose to remove the separate tub to make more space. They then created a large walk-in shower with his and hers shower heads and a seat.

A Study for Their Work From Home Needs

The Magnolia floor plan includes a study, which Sarah uses as her office and workout space. She loves the view out the windows, and the room is large enough for her exercise equipment and her desk without feeling cramped. Sarah works from home and loves the convenience of having her office and workout space in the same room.

Additional Bedrooms Complete the Home

On the same side of the home as the man cave are two more bedrooms that share a bathroom. Their son's bedroom is the larger of the two rooms and has a high ceiling that makes it feel even more spacious. The other bedroom serves as their guest room and is large enough to fit a queen-sized bed comfortably.

Making the Most of the Outdoor Space

The Barnetts fell in love with their property and wanted an outdoor living area that would allow them to enjoy all that it had to offer. The Magnolia floor plan includes a back porch, but the Barnetts went one step further by extending it by 12-13 feet. This extra space allows them to have two grills, a TV, and a dinette set - everything they need to enjoy quality time outdoors. Thanks to their creative thinking, the Barnetts have created an outdoor oasis that they can enjoy for years to come.
