Building a Better Community with Foundation for the Homeless
Our sales and construction teams recently joined forces for a productive, heart-warming trip to the Kalahari Resort in Round Rock! Not only did they get some valuable training - which will help make our company even stronger than before - but what's more is that these hardworking folks also put their creative skills together with Foundation for the Homeless to build care packages full of necessities for those who are unhoused in Austin. It was certainly an experience worth remembering!
Foundation for the Homeless
The Foundation for the Homeless offers several programs to help families in the Austin community who are experiencing homelessness. Their Family Stability program provides rapid re-housing into a safe and stable environment for families with minor children experiencing homelessness. Their Plus One program provides assistance for Austin Energy customers in need of help paying their bills. The program that started it all, 15 years ago, is the Feed My People program, held at the First United Methodist Church Family Life Center in Austin, TX every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30-8:00AM. Feed My People provides a filling, hot breakfast as well as basic medical screenings, eyeglasses, and assistance with obtaining identification documents to those experiencing homelessness and poverty.
Working Together for Good
Working with Foundation for the Homeless was an incredibly meaningful experience for our teams—we were able to witness firsthand how much good the organization is doing in our community. As part of our partnership, we assembled 500 hygiene kits that included items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, and other necessities. These kits will be used by homeless families in Austin so they can maintain basic hygiene despite their difficult circumstances. It was so inspiring to see how these small items can make such a huge difference in people's lives!
Making an Impact
In addition to assembling the hygiene kits, we were incredibly moved by the efforts of Foundation for the Homeless, and made a $1500 donation to support their mission of assisting families in need throughout Austin. This donation will be put towards purchasing food supplies and other necessities that are needed by those living without permanent housing. We are proud of this contribution and feel honored to have been able to play a part in helping FFH achieve its goals of providing assistance and resources to those who need them most.
Our time at Kalahari Resort was not just about team building and learning new skills; it was about coming together as one unified force for good! By partnering with Foundation for the Homeless, we not only had the opportunity to give back but also gained an even deeper appreciation for each other as colleagues and friends united behind a common cause. We could not be more proud of our teams' efforts during this meaningful event!
