Tilson's Experience Made All The Difference

The Smiths met with several builders when planning their new home. They chose Tilson because of the number of years we've been building in Texas. "...If you've been in business for 80 plus years, you don't stay in business that long by not doing what people want you to do, helping people, and keeping them happy. So that was a big part of our decision to go with Tilson," said Jay.

Moving Away from the Hustle and Bustle

Jay and Brenda love living in the country. When they originally moved to Katy, it was a calm area without a lot of traffic. Over the years, though, that all changed as they watched the town grew around them. Finally, it was time to move away from it all and find a more peaceful place to live. The Smiths found the perfect piece of land in Fredericksburg. Their eight grandchildren love to visit them and enjoy the wilderness. Jay says their new home is probably the only place he ever sees the grandchildren put their phones down and go outside.

Designing the Perfect Home

Working with their design consultant, Eric McKiernan, the Smiths were able to take one of our home plans and change it to suit their needs. They incorporated features they liked from other models into their final design. They moved walls, raised ceiling heights, and included a garage. We kept working with them until we created the perfect home for their family.

Advice to Others When Choosing a Builder

We asked Brenda what she would tell someone thinking about a new custom home. Here's what she said: "I would tell a person that was wanting to build a home, and they were looking for a builder. I would choose Tilson, and I would choose Tilson again. I've had known people and met people that have built homes 15 to 20 years ago with Tilson, and they said they would still build another Tilson home."
