Jon and Colleen Cade always envisioned having a home nestled in nature, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. When they purchased their land in Waller County, they knew they'd found the perfect opportunity to realize their dreams. When the Cade's found Tilson Homes, they knew they'd found a builder who could help them fulfill their lifelong dream of having a home surrounded by nature. After following Tilson on social media, the Cades watched many videos on Tilson's quality construction practices. They were confident they'd chosen the right builder even before heading into the Spring Design Center to begin working on their customized Canyon A floor plan.

Features and Customizations

The Cades wanted a house that blended traditional and farmhouse features. At the front of the home, the brick veneer and shutters contribute to the farmhouse feel. They chose to add an extended attached 2-car garage to the home, adding a drop zone to the floor plan. The extended garage added 7 feet to the rear of the garage, where the Cades store their lawn mower. They also added a small garage door to the rear of the garage that opens onto a concrete pad in the backyard, perfect for projects. The back of the home features a spacious rear-covered porch, with an extended uncovered portion offering plenty of space for Jon's barbecue pit and additional seating for enjoying the sights and sounds of nature.

Inside, you'll find a sitting room off the foyer, perfect for reading or enjoying the views of nature. The living room boasts a cathedral ceiling and a large fireplace with a full-stone face. Jon grew up in a house with a similar ceiling treatment and fireplace and wanted to emulate that in his forever home. In the kitchen, the Cades selected the alternate kitchen layout featuring a rectangular island instead of a curved one. They expanded the pantry to minimize trips into town for groceries and were pleasantly surprised with the amount of storage in the kitchen. On the back side of the living room, you can find the master suite; towards the front are the secondary bedrooms. The spacious master bedroom features large windows, allowing for natural light and ample storage. The Cades added a door to the rear porch from their bedroom so they could easily let their dog into the fenced yard. The bathroom features a large walk-in shower, his and her vanities, spacious closets, and cabinetry for linens and laundry. The Cades were especially fond of the ceiling height and the closet sizes in the secondary bedrooms. One bedroom is designated as a guest room, and the other is a craft room for Colleen.
