Bastrop County is brimming with history, culture, and good food. With a population of about 111,000, it’s spacious but lively. The Colorado River meanders past two State Parks and a Nature Park, as well as the eponymous City of Bastrop, named “Most Historic Small Town in Texas.” At the northern corner of the county sits the City of Elgin, famous for its barbecue, just 30 minutes from Austin. This county is home to several museums, art galleries, and studios, and 2 of the 54 designated Cultural Arts Districts in Texas.
