Matagorda Bay Nature Park is one of the county's hottest summer spots; you can hike the scenic trails or rent a canoe and paddle down the Colorado River, then cool off with a swim. For those wishing to fish everything from catfish to shark, the Gulf of Mexico isn’t far. Downtown Bay City is an excellent place to shop and explore with historic storefronts, unique eateries, and a massive outdoor market.
