Stephens County
Resting west of Fort Worth, Stephens County is home to 9,337 residents. It was founded in 1858 and was initially named Buchannan after the former President. There are several museums to learn about local history here, including the Swenson Museum, Sandefer Oil Museum, and an aviation museum. Possum Kingdom State Park is also right outside the northeastern border, with a vast variety of wet and dry recreation opportunities. Hubbard Creek Lake is right next to the city of Breckenridge – a similarly sized body of water that is especially popular for fishing.
