Texas charm lives in Brown County, and there is no better evidence of that than at their history museum. The four-story Old Brown County Jail tells a story of the past with exhibits related to World War I and Camp Bowie. About 20,000 of the 38,000 county residents live in Brownwood, where they like to cool off at Camp Bowie’s beach, four-lane lap pool, and waterslide into the channel. Lake Brownwood State Park is another popular location, but more-so for its hiking trails and wildflowers.
