DeWitt County
Occupying the midpoint between four major destinations, DeWitt County is a charming and spacious region with a modest population of about 20,000. The city of Cuero is its largest and is between 90 minutes and 2 hours away from Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi. It’s home to Turkeyfest, which includes a traditional turkey race to determine what city is the turkey capital of the world. There are several museums, including the DeWitt County Historical Museum. The pleasant rural community of Yorktown isn’t far, and there you can enjoy the burgeoning Western Days Texas Music Festival.
