Rains County
Rains County has a smaller population of about 12,000 people. Within its boundaries is the western portion of Lake Fork, and the eastern side of Lake Tawakoni is at its border. Both lakes feature water activities for residents, with high concentrations of bass and catfish for fishing. There is an Eagle Fest in February and a tamale fest on July 4th. The city of Emory lies at the center and allows for commuting to Greenville and Dallas, and has an African-American museum. Rains is a desirable location for families, as it is quiet but within a drive to the lively city life.
