Williamson County
Less than an hour north of Austin, Williamson County has a large population of over 500,000 residents but still demonstrates a small-town feel. Named after Robert McAlpin Williamson – a veteran of the Battle of San Jacinto – the landscape is vast with rocky terrain, hills, and rich fertile farmland. Spend a day navigating 7,000 feet of caves at the Inner Space Caverns with passages varying from tight crawls to large cathedral-type rooms. Other popular destinations include a shopping mall in Round Rock, the Old Coupland Inn and Dancing Hall in Hutto, and the Williamson Museum.
