Angelina County has approximately 88,000 people, and is very connected to the rest of the state. Angelina College serves residents of the county, while Stephen F. Austin State University is just over the county line. Angelina County Airport is a quick drive from Lufkin, and the Sam Rayburn Reservoir runs along the east, providing ample opportunities for recreation, both in and out of the water. Popular places and events in the area include the Angelina County Expo Center, Texas Forestry Museum, the Forest Festival, a natural history museum, and a trout zoo.
