Nacogdoches County
With a population of about 66,000, Nacogdoches County is home to Texas’ largest azalea garden and Stephen F. Austin State University. Its primary economic sources are centered around the university and its affiliations, healthcare, lumber, and agriculture; it’s one of Texas’ leading poultry producing counties. The city of Nacogdoches is situated right at the center, with shops, food, and various festivals, and the county is equidistant to both Austin and Dallas for an easy commute to either city. Angelina National Forest, one of four national forests in Texas, is a beautiful place for outdoor recreation, including fishing, boating, skiing, camping, and scenic trails.
