Wood County
About 45,000 people live in Wood County. The Old Sabine Bottom Wildlife Management Area lies to the south, and nearby is the Mineola Nature Preserve Equestrian Trails & Derby. Mineola also features the oldest operating theater in Texas and contains the Governor Hogg Shrine and Museum and Mineola Depot – two interesting and unique destinations for residents and tourists alike. Visitors to the city of Quitman should look out for their beautiful botanical gardens and the Dogwood Fiesta. If you’re the line-casting type, Lake Fork Reservoir is home to most of the largest largemouth bass in Texas.
