Lavaca County
Lavaca County got its name from the Lavaca River, which meanders in from the southeast and terminates near the northwestern county line. The population of 20,000 is not very dense, making it a comfortable place to build a home – especially for those looking for rural property with a small pond. It has several modest cities: Halletsville, home to the Kolache Festival; Yoakum, a center for cattle ranchers and the location of the Tom Tom festival; and Shiner, where you can find Spoetzl Brewery, and enjoy the Half Moon Holidays in July.
